About the Role
As Urban Planning Manager, you will lead comprehensive planning projects across Central Texas and the Western Gulf Coast, overseeing long-range plans, downtown and small-area plans, codes, and ordinances. You will mentor staff, manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and ensure high-quality deliverables while fostering collaboration. • Lead and manage urban planning projects including comprehensive, downtown, small-area plans, and codes/ordinances. • Serve as project manager and technical director, planning schedules, coordinating phases, and ensuring quality. • Facilitate public involvement, stakeholder engagement, and consensus-building workshops. • Produce and quality-check reports and visual planning documents. • Mentor, supervise, and develop planners and technicians within a multidisciplinary team. • Support resiliency, policy, transportation, and parks projects as workload demands. • Assist with marketing, client development, and strategic planning initiatives. • Develop and maintain relationships with key public-sector clients in Central/South Texas or the Western Gulf Coast. • Identify project opportunities and contribute to proposals and qualification statements. • Represent the firm at conferences, seminars, public meetings, and client presentations. • Travel as needed, including evenings and occasional overnight stays.

What You Bring
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a related field, AICP certification, and at least 10 years of professional planning experience, including public-sector project management and cross-sector work such as resilience or economic development. Strong facilitation, GIS, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite skills, and established client relationships in the region are essential; Spanish fluency and professional organization involvement are preferred. • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, or related field. • AICP certification. • 10+ years of professional urban planning experience, including public-sector project management. • Proven experience in cross-sector planning such as community development, economic development, or resilience. • Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and consensus-building skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS, and public engagement tools. • Established client relationships within Central or South Texas or the Western Gulf Coast. • Preferred: involvement in professional organizations (APA, ULI) and fluency in Spanish.
