About the Role
The Quality Engineer will join a team of roughly ten QC professionals at the Columbia City manufacturing plant, collaborating closely with plant staff, Customer Service, and customers. The role is responsible for executing product part approval processes, handling returned material authorizations, and addressing line quality issues through the Quality Alert system. Additionally, the engineer will lead supplier quality initiatives, with occasional travel as needed. Key duties include partnering with Production Team Leaders to drive Lean Manufacturing projects that enhance efficiency and quality, and serving on cross‑functional teams to transition new products to production. The engineer will develop and refine manufacturing processes, assess tooling and workstations, and work with Product Engineering on major design changes and new product introductions. Responsibilities also encompass reviewing manufacturing feasibility of quotes, coordinating technical activities with suppliers, and managing Manufacturing Change Notices. The role involves occasional travel for customer or supplier meetings and may require lifting or moving up to 40 lb and standing for most of the workday. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision. The work environment adheres to standard manufacturing safety standards with accommodations available as needed. • Complete PPAPs for current and new products. • Manage and analyze customer returned products using the RMA process. • Lead supplier quality issues and coordinate with vendors. • Implement and maintain Lean Manufacturing projects to improve efficiency and quality. • Develop robust manufacturing processes and evaluate tooling and workstations. • Collaborate with Product Engineering on design changes and new product development. • Review manufacturing feasibility of quotes and recommend design improvements. • Manage Manufacturing Change Notices (MCN) and drive continuous improvement. • Evaluate new technologies for product and process enhancements. • Prepare capital equipment justifications and document designs for patents. • Mentor and train team members in quality principles.

What You Bring
The position demands strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, including proficiency with statistical methods, data collection, and experimental design. Effective communication, interpersonal influence, and the capacity to mentor others in quality principles are essential. Performance metrics focus on safety, internal and external PPM, total cost of quality, on‑time delivery, supplier PPM, and EBITDA. Candidates should hold a BS degree in engineering or a related science and possess at least two years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience with ISO‑9001, TS‑16949 or AS9100 systems is required, and the individual must be willing to pursue Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification or related auditor training. Familiarity with advanced mathematical concepts and standard office software is expected. • Require BS in engineering or sciences and minimum 2 years QA experience. • Experience with ISO‑9001, TS‑16949 or AS9100; willing to pursue CQE certification. • Strong analytical, statistical, and computer skills for problem solving. • Ability to travel occasionally and lift up to 40 lb; stand 75 % of the day.
