About the Role

The employee will perform a wide variety of duties throughout the Iron and Non-Ferrous Foundry areas and support the grinding room operation in accordance with standard procedures or specific instructions. Tasks include grinding large and small castings, using band saws, dumping and shake-out molds, hooking off and shoveling castings, pouring molds, transporting metal and core knockout, and moving materials or equipment with fork trucks, pay loaders, or power vacs. The role also assists the molder with machine set-up, cleans assigned areas, and operates shot-blast cleaning equipment. Additional responsibilities involve repairing pouring ladles and operating an automatic floor sweeper. Minor maintenance duties such as tightening loose spray nozzles and replacing sprues are required, along with detecting and reporting defective materials to supervision. In the grinding room the employee will sort, clean, and move castings, operate shot-blast equipment and fork trucks, sweep and maintain a clean, orderly work area, and follow all prescribed safety regulations. Candidates must have at least three months of manufacturing experience and reside within 50 miles of Syracuse, NY; no relocation assistance is provided. • Grind large and small castings; use band saws and shake-out molds • Dump, hook off, shovel, and pour castings; transport metal and core knockout • Operate fork trucks, pay loaders, power vacs, and shot-blast cleaning equipment • Assist molder with machine set-up; clean assigned areas • Repair pouring ladles and operate automatic floor sweeper • Perform minor maintenance (tighten spray nozzles, replace sprues) • Detect and report defective materials to supervision • Sort, clean, and move castings in grinding room; maintain clean, orderly area • Follow all safety regulations and report unusual situations
