About the Role

The internship role in Operational Finance, based in West Des Moines, IA, provides financial services support to profit centers. Responsibilities include various accounting functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, reconciliations, and special services, reporting to the Accounting Manager, Accountant, or Senior Accountant. Interns will assist with contract billing, process vendor and subcontractor invoices, support monthly close activities, handle audit requests, and perform related administrative duties. They will also prepare progress reports, contribute to owner payment applications, and follow company policies and professional standards while gaining hands‑on experience. • Ensure client contractual billing and accounts receivable requirements are met • Process vendor invoices and maintain up‑to‑date accounts payable for assigned projects • Process subcontractor invoices, verify lien waivers, contracts, and insurance compliance • Support monthly close by posting or accruing client bills and project costs • Assist with internal and external audit requests • Enter project‑specific vendor invoice data and prepare multi‑project invoices for central processing • Perform administrative tasks related to invoice processing, including vendor setup, tax reporting, and handling client tax‑exempt certificates • Compile supporting documentation for Turner owner payment applications • Provide periodic progress reports to the supervisor • Apply academic knowledge to real‑world finance tasks and adhere to company policies and professional conduct • Participate in conferences and learning opportunities offered by the company

What You Bring

Candidates must be enrolled in a four‑year accredited program (preferably Accounting or Finance) with at least one year of coursework, possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, be proficient in MS Office and Excel, and be able to work independently and in a team. The role requires standard work‑week availability, a proactive attitude, and the ability to manage detailed information accurately. The position involves physical activities such as climbing stairs and ladders, and work is performed on construction sites where exposure to noise, weather, and potential hazards exists.
