About the Role

As a Water Resources Management Intern, you will gain real‑world experience by applying engineering techniques to hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, data collection, and GIS processing. You will work under the guidance of a senior engineer, learning design and modeling methods for water resource and stormwater projects serving federal, state, and local clients. Exposure includes flood control, floodplain analysis, dam and levee design, stream stabilization, wetland and lake restoration, and watershed analysis. You will also engage in mentoring programs, connect with recent graduates and leaders, and perform site visits, design calculations, GIS data production, and technical report assistance. • Apply engineering techniques for hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, data collection, and GIS processing. • Assist senior engineers on water resource and stormwater design for federal, state, and local clients. • Work on projects such as flood control, floodplain analysis, dam/levee design, stream stabilization, wetland and lake restoration, and watershed analysis. • Participate in mentoring programs and network with recent graduates and company leaders. • Perform site/field visits, design calculations, GIS data production, and assist in technical report and study preparation.

What You Bring

Preferred candidates have completed at least two years toward their degree with a 3.0+ GPA, possess knowledge of relevant software, and are preferably local. Required qualifications include enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program, strong attention to detail, problem‑solving and communication skills, basic Microsoft Office proficiency, and a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Preferred: 2+ years toward degree, 3.0+ GPA, knowledge of relevant software, local candidate preferred. • Required: Enrolled in undergraduate or graduate engineering program, strong attention to detail, problem‑solving and communication skills, basic Microsoft Office proficiency, commitment to employee‑owned culture.
