About the Role
In this position you will guide an expanding bridge team through complex project delivery while shaping the direction of the Ohio practice and cultivating the next generation of engineers. The role blends technical and people leadership, allowing you to set vision, elevate staff performance, strengthen client trust, and lead high‑profile pursuits that grow GFT’s regional presence. You will influence project strategy, resource planning, and team development, positioning yourself for broader leadership as the practice expands. The successful candidate will manage bridge projects primarily in Ohio and, when needed, in other locations, overseeing both in‑office and remote staff. Responsibilities include performing complex structural analysis, producing design calculations, drawings and details, and leading bridge and structural tasks within project teams. You will coordinate design reviews, permitting, client submittals, meetings, and sub‑consultant schedules, while developing and monitoring engineering budgets, scopes, and schedules for major bridge projects. • Lead and guide Ohio bridge team through complex project delivery and staff development. • Manage bridge projects in Ohio (and other locales) and oversee in‑office and remote staff. • Perform complex structural analysis, design calculations, drawings, and details for bridge projects. • Develop and report production work plans, coordinate design review, permitting, and sub‑consultant schedules. • Support business development through client presentations, proposals, and client coordination. • Prepare and monitor engineering budgets, project scopes, and schedules for major bridge projects. • Mentor, train, and review work of junior engineering staff.

What You Bring
Required qualifications are a B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering and a Professional Engineer license in Ohio (or the ability to obtain one within six months). Candidates should have at least 15 years of bridge engineering experience, proven project management skills, and established relationships with the Ohio DOT and local municipalities. Proficiency in AASHTOWare and BrR is required, with additional experience in LEAP Concrete/Bridge, CSI Bridge, MIDAS Civil, and Autodesk platforms preferred. Strong communication, technical writing, and structural problem‑analysis abilities, along with active involvement in local engineering societies, are essential. • Hold a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering and be a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio (or obtain within 6 months). • Possess 15+ years of bridge engineering experience with Ohio DOT relationships and knowledge of AASHTO/AREMA standards. • Proficient in AASHTOWare and BrR; experienced with LEAP Concrete/Bridge, CSI Bridge, MIDAS Civil; familiar with Autodesk platforms. • Preferred: experience with MicroStation, Open Roads, Open Bridge Designer.

Compensation ranges from $160,000 to $215,000, dependent on experience and location, and is complemented by a hybrid work environment.
