About the Role
The position begins at 2:30‑3:00 am and is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. The Senior Route Manager directly oversees frontline employees, spends most of the day in the field, and builds positive relationships. Key duties include onboarding new route managers and frontline staff, providing ongoing development touchpoints, coaching to address improvement opportunities, mentoring to promote safety and the WM Way, and managing performance through investigations, documentation, and audits. The role also involves visiting customers to resolve safety issues. • Onboard new route managers and frontline employees, providing tools, instruction, and daily support • Conduct daily check‑ins with new hires to ensure consistent communication • Provide timely touchpoints and regular best‑practice reviews to improve performance • Identify improvement opportunities and coach employees for continued success • Seek feedback on coaching conversations • Lead by example to enforce safety practices and teach the WM Way • Conduct root‑cause investigations of injuries/incidents, apply discipline and retraining • Maintain regulatory records (DOT) and daily audit route documentation (DVIRs, attendance, tickets) • Visit customers and sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues, exploring service alternatives

What You Bring
Candidates must have an accredited associate’s degree or a high school diploma/GED with at least two years of relevant experience, be at least 18 years old, legally authorized to work, and hold a valid driver’s license.
