About the Role
A Driver – CDL (B) safely operates a collection truck and provides prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. The driver also ensures the vehicle complies with the company’s safety standards, adheres to all company, state, and federal regulations, and completes daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to address any defects promptly. Drivers perform thorough pre‑ and post‑operation inspections, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls, and report any safety issues on standard forms. They operate the truck along assigned routes, read route sheets, load and compact refuse, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility while following manual or automatic controls per company policies. Drivers interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and coworkers to ensure timely service, identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers, monitor waste for compliance, and clean any accidental spills according to safety standards. They maintain vehicle readiness by cleaning waste from the packer blade and truck body, complete required route, productivity, and VCR reports, and meet departmental productivity standards.
