About the Role
The M/E Engineer 2 supports routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities while learning to develop budgetary M/E estimates using automated tools. The role involves reviewing design options, performing systems analyses, creating scopes of work for bids, and assisting with bid analysis and subcontractor selection. Additionally, the engineer will help develop sequencing requirements, identify constructability issues, and conduct job inspections to ensure quality and timeliness. Additional responsibilities include generating and executing commissioning plans, leading mechanical/electrical coordination, and managing shop drawing and submittal processes. The engineer will interact independently with project teams, produce work products for clients, and participate in all construction phases from startup to closeout. Site inspections, constructability reviews, and support for functional testing are also part of the role. • Perform entry‑level mechanical, electrical, and field construction tasks. • Develop budgetary M/E estimates using automated estimating software. • Review design options and conduct systems analyses during pre‑construction. • Create and coordinate mechanical/electrical scopes of work for bidding. • Assist with bid analysis, subcontractor selection, and sequencing planning. • Identify constructability issues and produce review reports. • Conduct job and site inspections to ensure quality and schedule compliance. • Manage shop drawing/submittal processes and commissioning plans. • Lead M/E coordination and support commissioning testing procedures. • Communicate work products to clients and represent JE Dunn professionally. • Promote safety and quality standards, mentoring others toward an injury‑free environment.

What You Bring
Key skills include accurate, timely work performance, intermediate verbal and written communication, and proficiency in MS Office and JE Dunn’s M/E software tools. Candidates must be able to read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications, understand construction management methods, and build collaborative relationships within and outside the team. A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering, or a related field is required, though equivalent experience may be considered. Candidates must have at least two years of construction or engineering experience. • Proficient in reading plans, MS Office, and JE Dunn M/E tools; strong verbal/written communication. • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering or related field; or equivalent experience. • Minimum 2 + years construction or engineering experience.
