About the Role
As a Welder/Fabricator at the East Longmeadow, MA facility, you will join the Stanley Black & Decker manufacturing team. The role involves a broad range of welding and fabrication tasks, using both welding components and various gases common in the industry. You will also work from assembly and detail prints to plan and layout production work. Key duties include designing, fabricating, machining, welding, and documenting safety guards and other components based on complex prototypes, sketches, and verbal directions. You will lead the weld shop, operate as an independent department, and perform safe welding and rigging of awkward devices for repair or rebuild. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area and supporting customers with repairs or replacements are also essential. • Perform manufacturing and fabrication using welding and general tool‑room technologies. • Plan and layout work from assembly and detail prints. • Operate machine tools to mill and drill components for assembly. • Support customers by repairing or replacing worn safety guards and mechanisms. • Maintain equipment and keep the work area clean and orderly. • Design, fabricate, machine, weld, and document machine safety guards and components. • Interpret complex prototype blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions. • Lead the weld shop and operate as an independent department. • Execute safe welding operations and rigging of awkward devices for repair or rebuild. • Repair or replace damaged safety guards as needed. • Participate in a 401(k) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
