About the Role
The specialist will act as the environmental task lead on transportation and infrastructure projects, managing permitting, wetland delineations, field data collection, and client interactions while ensuring high‑quality deliverables and a strong health‑and‑safety culture. • Lead environmental permitting for NJ transportation and infrastructure projects, including NEPA and EO 215 documentation. • Manage consulting project scope, schedule, and budget using AECOM’s project management tools. • Serve as primary liaison with clients and regulatory agencies on complex permits. • Mentor junior and mid‑level staff and coordinate sub‑consultant teams. • Direct field and data collection, wetland delineations, and land‑use permitting activities. • Prepare and submit federal, state, and local regulatory permit applications. • Conduct client site visits and attend evening meetings as required. • Develop high‑quality proposals, interdisciplinary deliverables, and business strategies. • Promote a culture of high‑quality work and enforce health‑and‑safety standards. • Provide technical support to the NJ Environmental Planning Department and Project Managers. • Collaborate across AECOM offices, practices, and business lines on design‑bid‑build and design‑build projects. • Stay current on environmental regulations, emerging technologies, and industry trends.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related field and possess at least six years of relevant experience, including development of regulatory permit applications. Preferred candidates bring ten or more years of experience with New Jersey transportation agencies, a master’s degree, and a record of leading multidisciplinary teams. • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources or related field with 6+ years experience. • Demonstrated experience developing regulatory permit applications. • 10+ years experience with New Jersey transportation agencies (e.g., NJTA, NJDOT, NJ TRANSIT, AMTRAK, SJTA) preferred. • Master’s degree preferred. • Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary projects and teams. • Strong client relationship‑building and communication skills. • Self‑motivated, able to work independently and in collaborative teams. • Leadership, organizational, and detail‑oriented management abilities. • Experience with GIS, GPS, and data platforms preferred.
