About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable materials to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities once load capacity is reached. Responsibilities include picking up containers that may exceed 1,000 pounds and performing precise backing maneuvers in high‑traffic, residential, or industrial environments. The role covers residential collection, as well as roll‑off services that require handling large open‑top containers and navigating tight overhead spaces. All vehicle operation must follow WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and applicable laws. Drivers conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, report unsafe conditions or service issues, and attend required training and briefings. They collaborate with Operations Managers to improve route efficiency, communicate customer requests, and ensure each site is left clean after dumping. End‑of‑day documentation and check‑out procedures are completed, and drivers assist teammates as needed to meet customer needs. • Operate vehicles in compliance with WM safety policies, OSHA, DOT, and all legal regulations. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR documentation. • Report unsafe situations, service issues, incidents, accidents, injuries, and property damage promptly. • Attend required training programs, briefings, and meetings. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and share best practices. • Notify management of service interruptions such as closed streets, heavy receptacles, or safety hazards. • Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Dump receptacles and ensure the customer site is left clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out procedures. • Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

What You Bring
Applicants need at least one year of experience operating a vehicle that requires a CDL or equivalent recent military driving experience, must be 18 or older, and legally authorized to work in the country. A Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement is required, while a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The job involves physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and handling equipment. • Required: Minimum 1 year operating a CDL‑required vehicle or equivalent recent military driving experience. • Required: Age 18 or older, legal work eligibility, and a Class A or B CDL with air‑brake endorsement. • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
