About the Role
In this role you will contribute to concept studies, develop drawing packages, and prepare planning applications, technical approvals, and construction issues. You will be active on multiple development projects across sectors, supported by the Manchester team, and engage with clients, stakeholders, and design teams while ensuring tasks meet budget, programme, technical standards, and legal requirements. We help clients promote and manage sustainable development from pre‑feasibility to planning consent, establishing long‑term area plans and delivering multidisciplinary design. Our services span civil engineering and highways design, utilities and energy planning, drainage, flood risk and SuDS, as well as site appraisal, due diligence, and strategic planning advice for public and private sector partners. • Conduct concept studies, develop drawing packages, and prepare planning and technical approval submissions. • Manage multiple development projects across sectors, ensuring delivery on budget, schedule, and technical standards. • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and design teams to coordinate project requirements. • Produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, calculations, and construction drawings under supervision. • Apply design codes such as Water UK Sewerage Guidance, DMRB, Manual for Streets, and local authority standards. • Utilise software tools including Info Drainage, Micro Drainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and PDS. • Liaise with highway, water, statutory, and local authorities to obtain outline and detailed approvals.

What You Bring
We are looking for candidates with knowledge of highway and drainage design, flood risk assessment, utility planning, and the broader development industry. Desired skills include proficiency in infrastructure master‑plans, technical reports, design calculations, and relevant design codes, strong communication, software expertise (Info Drainage, Micro Drainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PDS), and experience liaising with authorities and managing legal, planning, and contractual processes. Post‑graduate qualifications and progress towards chartership are also required. • Demonstrate knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, and construction design stages. • Understand legal, planning, and contractual processes for sewers, SuDS, highways, and utilities in new developments. • Hold postgraduate qualifications, be progressing towards chartership, and possess financial and contractual project experience.
