About the Role
The Light Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of hand‑held mechanical devices on construction or plant‑operations sites. Equipment may include bulldozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, forklifts, graders, drills, generators, saws, and pumps. The operator must understand safety hazards and use tools and equipment safely and effectively. • Read and interpret load charts. • Interpret hand signals to position materials. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. • Conduct daily equipment inspections, including fluid checks, refueling, and wear assessment. • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies. • Assist other craft workers as needed. • Perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg motions; maintain hand‑eye coordination. • Operate cars, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment. • Climb and balance on steel/wood frameworks, ladders, scaffolds, and stairs. • Work on uneven, muddy, rocky, or soft surfaces, and in confined spaces and adverse weather. • Read, write, and comprehend directions and safety policies. • Maintain concentration amidst distractions and varying work tempos. • Apply decision‑making and detail‑orientation skills. • Remember, examine, and observe work details.

What You Bring
The position demands considerable physical stamina, the ability to operate vehicles and power tools, and the capacity to work on uneven terrain, in confined spaces, and under varying weather conditions. Effective communication, reading, and comprehension are required to follow directions and safety policies, while the ability to focus, make decisions, and attend to detail ensures safe performance. • Lift or carry up to 50 lb (occasionally up to 100 lb). • Communicate effectively with management and supervision.
