About the Role

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Commissioning Manager to lead project construction and contract administration with a focus on successful commissioning. The role involves delivering larger, complex assignments and supporting Commissioning Managers in planning and executing work that requires independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of commissioning techniques, procedures, and criteria. • Execute and direct functional performance testing in the field. • Draft technical documents for issue resolution, lessons learned, and best practices. • Conduct training and educational sessions within the discipline. • Communicate across disciplines for construction coordination and issue resolution. • Collaborate with contractors to resolve commissioning issues during testing. • Develop and coordinate system test procedures and oversee document control. • Support business development and new project sales. • Lead team members by example, providing coaching and feedback.

What You Bring

Mortenson does not accept unsolicited agency communications without a valid agreement. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or 15+ years equivalent field experience. • Minimum eight years of construction management or commissioning experience, preferably with an MEP contractor or commissioning firm. • Expert understanding of design, construction, start‑up, commissioning, and turnover within project delivery. • Mastery of the commissioning process (L0‑L5) and strong knowledge of key construction documents and QA/QC. • Comprehensive knowledge of building systems across disciplines; deep expertise in at least one area such as HVAC, plumbing/piping, electrical, lighting, instrumentation, controls, or building envelope. • Ability to manage multiple projects, delegate workload, and balance team resources. • Proven positive, professional attitude with excellent customer service, coaching, and leadership skills. • Ability to travel up to 50%.

The position offers a base salary ranging from $158,900 to $238,400, with higher ranges for certain locations (Denver, CO; Chicago, IL – 5%; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR – 10%; Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
