About the Role

The Assistant Project Manager – MEP will oversee mechanical, electrical and plumbing works in building construction projects, with a specific focus on hospital developments. The role requires a strong understanding of how MEP systems integrate within the overall construction process and affect building functionality, aesthetics and guest experience. The incumbent will actively engage in the initial design development of MEP services, assess constructability and coordinate with all service‑design disciplines and interior/civil vendors to ensure a clash‑free design. They will review design basis reports, verify legal and statutory compliance, and obtain necessary approvals in a timely manner. Coordination with consultants and architects is essential to align shop drawings, samples and approvals with contract requirements. During execution, the manager will ensure contractors submit shop drawings, technical data sheets and samples, and that these are approved according to the contract and design specifications. They will enforce conditions of approvals on site, manage the selection of vendors and local material suppliers, and add value through procurement decisions that meet client expectations. The role includes responsibility for the installation, testing and commissioning of all electrical, HVAC, plumbing and firefighting equipment. It also involves managing handovers, collecting manuals, test certificates and as‑built drawings, and following execution, testing and commissioning checklists. Training of the taking‑over team through contractors and consultants will be organized to ensure a smooth transition. Support to the planning team is required by providing critical information and flagging potential delays, while tracking long‑lead items and maintaining proper documentation. The manager will also assist the billing team to ensure concealed items are executed only after the appropriate change‑management process is completed. • Develop and assess constructability of MEP designs. • Coordinate with design disciplines and vendors to ensure clash‑free solutions. • Review legal and statutory compliance and obtain required approvals. • Manage shop drawing, sample submissions and ensure contractor compliance. • Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of electrical, HVAC, plumbing and firefighting systems. • Prepare handover documentation, as‑built drawings, manuals and test certificates. • Track long‑lead items and support planning to flag potential delays. • Liaise with billing team and enforce change‑order processes for concealed work. • Participate in inclusive diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a B.E. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and possess 8‑10 years of relevant experience, particularly in hospital, residential, commercial or industrial projects. Technical awareness of civil, electro‑mechanical and architectural works, excellent organizational and motivational skills, and strong communication abilities in English are essential. The role is suited for professionals who have progressed through engineering ranks, from engineer to senior engineer and onward to assistant manager level. • Hold a B.E. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 8–10 years of MEP experience. • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of civil, electro‑mechanical and architectural works. • Exhibit excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
