About the Role
The role sits within Mace's consultancy business, specifically the justice sector, overseeing the refurbishment and remodelling of an existing building inside a live prison environment. It will span from early design through to construction delivery and involves managing consultant teams, project stakeholders, and contributing to a broader programme delivering new prisoner places. • Determine project management, technical services and external resources required for the project. • Deliver project objectives according to the execution plan, leading and supervising the team and stakeholders to meet KPIs. • Monitor and actively engage with health, safety and wellbeing aspects at all project stages. • Prepare, modify and keep project plans updated and relevant throughout the project lifecycle. • Oversee project timeframes and budgets, managing risks, challenges and mitigations diligently. • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure robust quality systems are in place, managed and monitored. • Organise meetings, provide contextual information and analysis, conduct site walks and record outcomes. • Partner with stakeholders and actively manage risk throughout the project. • Coordinate and communicate with all project parties to ensure task completion and maintain proper records. • Document and own project changes, tracking them as required. • Work collaboratively towards net‑zero carbon transition, identifying and managing associated emissions reductions.

What You Bring
The position offers experience in delivering Ministry of Justice projects from design to construction, supporting client strategy, and ensuring project governance and assurance. The team has a proven track record of high‑quality delivery across the MoJ prison portfolio and is currently experiencing strong growth. • Previous project management experience (or equivalent). • MCIOB, MAPM, MRICS qualification (or working towards) or local equivalent. • Tertiary qualifications in project management, construction or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. • CSCS card or equivalent construction skills certification. • Proven experience managing small to medium sized projects. • Strong communication, presentation and project planning skills. • Budgetary oversight expertise. • Advanced proficiency in coordinating activities and collaborating with stakeholders. • Understanding of project management methodologies and practices. • Excellent negotiation skills to support client focus. • Ability to proactively manage internal budgets and fees, delivering agreed outcomes.

Benefits
Hybrid working is expected, with a minimum of monthly site visits during design and 2–3 days per week on‑site during construction, the remainder from home or a regional office. The site is based in Devises, with a local Mace office in Bristol, and requires EL1 vetting clearance.
