About the Role

The Field Quality Manager (FQM) serves as the primary onsite quality support for the project team and crafts, managing the development and implementation of the Site‑Specific Quality Plan while researching and answering quality‑related questions. As a member of the project management team, the FQM works with minimal supervision, leads project quality initiatives, and establishes expected workmanship standards. The role requires a thorough understanding of project schedules and the ability to apply QA/QC principles throughout construction. • Manage and implement the Site‑Specific Quality Plan to meet client and company standards. • Read and interpret plans and specifications, visualizing two‑dimensional drawings in three dimensions. • Inspect field conditions, identify issues, recommend cost‑saving measures, and take corrective action. • Perform and document weekly quality audits, field inspections, and tests aligned with the construction schedule. • Prepare, review, and co‑sign the Monthly Project Quality Report and maintain QA/QC records. • Mentor and train QA/QC inspectors, field engineers, and craftsmen on quality processes and procedures. • Conduct walk‑arounds, facilitate quality plan implementation meetings, and issue Quality Alerts and NCRs. • Review and approve third‑party test results and develop project‑specific work instructions as needed. • Ensure compliance with MasTec Quality Control Manual, industry codes (ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC) and safety policies. • Provide QA/QC input to task planning and coordinate with supervisors, owners, and clients. • Promote a zero‑injury safety culture and adhere to all company safety procedures. • Support continuous improvement through lean Kaizen, metric analysis, and process documentation.

What You Bring

Field work involves exposure to typical construction site hazards, including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and noise, and requires frequent climbing of stairs and ladders. Reasonable accommodations are provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions safely. • Minimum two years of construction or operations quality experience, preferably civil/electrical/mechanical. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in quality, engineering, construction, welding or a related technical field (preferred). • Trade certifications in testing/inspection and knowledge of industry codes (ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC). • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality‑record software for documentation and analysis. • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, contracts, and regulations. • Excellent written and oral communication skills for reports, instructions, and stakeholder presentations. • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities to drive continuous improvement. • Self‑starter with strong organizational, managerial, and problem‑solving abilities.
