About the Role
A Helper will assist with various manual needs of the construction work being performed on a Power Plant, including but not limited to moving equipment, digging, retrieving equipment, standing by for fire safety, and any other work instructed by a supervisor or journeyman. The role supports journeymen and supervisors by performing hands‑on tasks that keep the project on schedule. The Helper will perform a wide range of manual activities, including moving and retrieving equipment, digging, and standing by for fire safety as directed by a supervisor or journeyman. Duties also include using fire extinguishers, climbing onto structures and scaffolding, operating rigging and hoisting devices, and conducting preventive maintenance such as lubrication and repair of worn parts. The role requires strict adherence to supervisor instructions. • Move, dig, and retrieve equipment as directed. • Stand by for fire safety and operate fire extinguishers. • Climb onto structures and scaffolding safely. • Operate rigging and hoisting devices (chokers, chain falls, come‑alongs). • Perform preventative maintenance such as lubrication and part repair. • Follow all supervisor instructions.

What You Bring
Candidates must be able to meet all physical demands of the job, have experience using industrial hand and power tools, and possess reliable transportation to work seven days a week as required. The ability to perform physically demanding tasks is essential. Preferred candidates include former Zachry employees with basic mechanical knowledge and prior experience on industrial construction sites, as well as those possessing formal or technical education. These qualifications enhance the ability to perform the job effectively. The successful applicant should have a basic understanding of hand and power tools, strong problem‑solving abilities, and good manual dexterity. Effective reading comprehension, teamwork, and clear communication with coworkers and supervisors are also required, along with a commitment to Zachry’s values and safety regulations. The position demands extensive physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lb, and occasional work at heights on ladders or platforms. Workers must have good hand dexterity, hearing, speaking, and vision capabilities, and be able to operate outdoors in extreme weather for up to 12 hours daily. Use of personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel‑toe boots is mandatory. • Lift and carry up to 50 lb; work at heights and on ladders. • Use industrial hand and power tools proficiently. • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. • Wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, safety vest, gloves, and steel‑toe boots.
