About the Role

The Heavy‑Equipment Diesel Technician performs complex preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of equipment, including trucks and yellow‑iron machinery. This role supports the reliable operation of WM’s fleet and auxiliary assets. Daily responsibilities include repairing equipment such as bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, loaders, yard trucks, tractors, forklifts, and company vehicles. The role also involves diagnosing and fixing differentials, hydraulic, motor, transmission, drive, air‑conditioning, and electrical systems, as well as servicing auxiliary equipment like light plants, water pumps, and welders. All work follows a preventative‑maintenance checklist and requires accurate completion of work orders, card files, P.M. checklists, and oil‑sample records. • Repair bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front‑end loaders, yard trucks, farm tractors, forklifts, and company cars. • Diagnose and repair differentials, hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, air‑conditioning, and electrical systems. • Perform preventative‑maintenance tasks according to checklists. • Complete work orders, card files, P.M. checklists, and oil‑sample records. • Service and maintain auxiliary equipment such as light plants, water pumps, and welders. • Work for WM, the largest waste‑management provider with extensive recycling and renewable‑energy operations.

What You Bring

Applicants must have at least one year of heavy‑equipment diesel maintenance experience and possess a valid driver’s license with a clean record. Required skills include operating tools and equipment, diagnosing defects, repairing a variety of vehicles, and using fleet‑maintenance software; knowledge of the Total Tire Maintenance Program is advantageous.
