About the Role

QA/QC Inspectors are responsible for testing, sampling, and inspecting raw materials, fabricated and machined components, assembled structures, and industrial processes to ensure quality, identify deviations, and detect defects according to specifications. This role includes specific inspection of welds and welding processes. Key responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, manuals, and specifications; inspecting, approving, or rejecting welds according to specifications; inspecting raw materials; providing process and specification information to welders and supervisors; testing welders for qualifications; and coordinating efforts with contracted or internal weld X‑ray teams. • Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and specifications. • Inspect, approve, or reject welds per specifications. • Inspect raw materials for compliance. • Provide process and specification information to welders and supervisors. • Coordinate with contracted or internal weld X‑ray teams. • Maintain a current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. • Apply problem‑solving and critical‑thinking to identify safety risks. • Follow all company directives and safety procedures. • Work safely at heights above 300 ft using fall protection. • Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lb. • Handle tools and equipment with up to 70 ft‑lb of force.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificate, possess at least three years of experience as a welding inspector, meet all physical requirements, be able to work at heights exceeding 300 feet, and have the necessary tools and reliable transportation. Required qualifications emphasize a valid CWI certification, extensive knowledge of multiple welding processes and associated materials, strong teamwork and communication skills, basic understanding of heavy industrial construction, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities to address safety risks, and adherence to company directives and safety procedures. Preferred qualifications include being a current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee, prior experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc., and experience working as a welder on industrial construction projects. Physical demands involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting; the ability to use arms and hands with up to 70 ft‑lb of force; lifting and moving objects up to 50 lb; working at heights using ladders, platforms, or man lifts with appropriate fall protection; good visual acuity and depth perception; and the capacity to operate in various weather conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment. • Test welders for qualification. • Possess at least 3 years of welding inspector experience. • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of multiple welding processes and materials. • Exhibit strong teamwork and communication skills. • Understand basic heavy industrial construction processes. • Have reliable transportation and required inspection tools. • Wear required PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirator, vest, gloves, and boots.
