What You Bring
WSP is seeking a full‑time Early Career Structural Engineer for the Mountain Pacific Transportation Engineering Team, based in either Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA. This role offers the chance to join a highly experienced team that delivers innovative infrastructure solutions for both public and private sector projects, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other roadway and transportation structures. Working under the guidance of senior structural engineers, you will translate theoretical knowledge into practical solutions by creating numerical models, preparing design calculations, developing plan sets, generating quantity take‑offs and construction cost estimates, and reviewing submittals. The position demands a detail‑oriented, analytical mindset, ownership of assigned tasks, proactive communication with supervisors, and adherence to ethical decision‑making as outlined in WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering • 0–1 years of relevant post‑education experience • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and engineering tools • Master’s degree with an emphasis on Structural Engineering (preferred) • Knowledge of earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, reinforced concrete and steel design • Engineer‑in‑Training certification or scheduled FE exam • Relevant internship or work experience in structural engineering • Familiarity with design codes such as AASHTO LRFD, ACI 318, ASCE 7, AISC, and DOT Bridge Manuals • Experience with structural analysis and CAD tools • Must be authorized to work in the United States
