System Specialist I (BAS)
Implement, commission, and support building automation controls systems.
Job Highlights
About the Role
• Provide controls database, graphics, and programming for sequences (Distech, Alerton, Tridium preferred). • Perform accurate system start‑up and commissioning, verifying alarms and annunciations. • Support installation personnel on project sites. • Provide information and support to other contractors on site. • Debug installation issues during static and dynamic start‑up and commissioning. • Assist Bosch Building Technologies and contractors with building operating issues beyond controls. • Contribute to estimation, design, installation, start‑up, commissioning, and training for building systems. • Produce start‑up documentation such as daily logs, checkout logs, and commissioning documents. • Ensure timely software backups for projects and development. • Provide service support on existing installations to maintain code compliance. • Support efficient operation of existing systems and assist building engineers. • Complete timesheets, service work orders, and required paperwork accurately and promptly. • Assist in preparing as‑built drawings and operation & maintenance manuals. • Help turnover projects from Operations to Service teams. • Support sales team during estimating, including product or system demonstrations. • Travel to job sites as needed for start‑up, commissioning, and onsite assistance. • Lift and carry ladders, fire extinguishers, drawings, computers, and materials; lift up to 75 lb. • Stand, walk, and climb several flights of stairs or ladders on construction sites. • Maintain a satisfactory driving record to operate a company vehicle. • Kneel, stoop, and crawl as required.

What You Bring
Level I employees must achieve many objectives with timely supervision, understand at least one system type, and hold a low‑level industry certification. Level II staff consistently achieve all objectives, mentor Level I personnel, handle multiple special‑systems deliverables, and possess a mid‑level certification. Senior positions are highly experienced, have deep knowledge of many installed systems, hold high‑level certifications, and provide mentorship and supervision when required. • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. • 2+ years experience in building automation controls or related field. • 2+ years experience with construction/building controls programming and database management. • Intermediate proficiency with Distech, Niagara, or Alerton controllers. • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical/electronic circuitry and read schematics. • Understanding of AC power circuitry, breakers, and multi‑phase power (120VAC+). • Proficiency with electronic testing equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, and oscilloscopes. • 2‑year technical degree in HVAC or electronics (preferred). • 3+ years experience with Distech, Alerton, or Tridium building controls systems. • 3+ years experience programming building automation within Tridium/Niagara framework and managing controls databases. • Advanced ability to provide service support ensuring code compliance and efficient operation. • Advanced troubleshooting of electrical/electronic circuitry and diagram interpretation.
