About the Role

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will plan and execute geotechnical investigations and design activities that influence major company programs, while also supporting marketing efforts for both internal and external clients. This role involves organizing and coordinating investigations for transportation and other infrastructure projects, performing technical analyses, preparing reports, and working with designers to apply recommendations. The engineer may act as a technical specialist or project manager on large projects and will supervise professionals, technicians, and design teams as needed. • Plan and prepare geotechnical investigations and design activities for major programs. • Support marketing initiatives for internal and external clients. • Organize, conduct, and coordinate geotechnical investigations for transportation and other projects. • Perform technical geotechnical analyses and prepare detailed reports. • Coordinate design teams to implement geotechnical recommendations. • Serve as Technical Specialist or Project Manager on large‑scale projects as needed. • Supervise professionals, technicians, and design teams.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and possess at least ten years of relevant experience, including a Professional Engineer (PE) license. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, GIS, CADD, GeoStudio/Ensoft, and Bentley’s geotechnical software suite is required, along with knowledge of advanced numerical modeling techniques such as finite difference, finite element, and discrete element methods. An active commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture is essential. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field. • Possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. • Maintain a Professional Engineer (PE) license. • Proficient with Microsoft Office, GIS, and CADD applications. • Experienced with GeoStudio/Ensoft for slope stability, settlement, seepage, and deep foundation analysis. • Skilled in Bentley geotechnical data management and visualization tools (gINT, OpenGround, LeapFrog). • Knowledgeable in advanced numerical modeling (Finite Difference, Finite Element, Discrete Element) and related software (Bentley, PLAXIS, Itasca FLAC).
