About the Role
The Landscape Architect will bring outdoor spaces to life by collaborating with team members to provide concept design through technical construction documentation of landscape architecture projects, including landscape and hardscape plans, details, and specifications. They provide design, code review, presentation graphics, product research, construction documentation, detailing, specifications, opinions of cost, and construction administration for parks, streetscapes, public space design, development sites, industrial sites, higher education, and master planning. In this role, the Landscape Architect will deliver professionally completed concepts, presentation graphics, construction documents, specifications, and cost opinions, while also researching, reviewing, and documenting landscape requirements of municipal zoning codes. The Landscape Architect must be able to prepare concept plans through construction document sets, including specifications, and to provide construction administration. They review all phases of the landscape plan document set (SD, DD, CD), provide redlines, and coordinate with other discipline drawings to ensure effective integration. QA/QC of project deliverables is performed as needed, and LA plans are signed and sealed for construction. Construction administration duties include site visit documentation, shop drawing review, answering contractor questions, and leading CA meetings. The architect will also write proposals to secure work, act as a self‑starter, manage multiple projects concurrently, mentor the team in design and documentation, and support the department wherever needed. Regular interaction occurs with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, subconsultants, contractors, and internal TKG engineers. The architect presents to public agencies and professional groups, speaks on behalf of the profession, assists senior staff with project proposals and marketing materials, and participates in interview processes. • Consults with and provides guidance to internal landscape designers, management, and clients regarding best practices and requirements for landscape and hardscape design. • Prioritizes project assignments to meet market/firm expectations. • Analyzes relevant materials such as topographical data, surveys, aerial photography, drawings, blueprints, maps, zoning codes, grading plans, and other data as necessary. • Reviews and redlines landscape architecture drawings and specifications. • Reviews drawings of other disciplines (electrical, civil, etc.) to ensure effective coordination with landscape improvements. • Signs and seals landscape construction documents for construction. • Assists staff on landscape architectural design, construction documentation, and administration. • Provides quantities and uses benchmarking data to offer opinions of construction costs for landscape elements. • Collaborates with architects, contractors, subconsultants, and other engineers to ensure tightly coordinated drawing sets. • Works with surveyors to establish installations, reference points, grades, elevations, and other construction‑affecting factors. • Monitors project progress and ensures design specifications, health‑safety‑welfare, and design standards are met. • Provides design and efficient plan production from conceptual design through construction documentation and administration. • Designs in concert with grading plans and assesses elevation functionality. • Hand‑sketches rough grading plans to verify functionality. • Completes construction documentation sets independently with minimal oversight. • Anticipates next steps in the design process to keep documentation progressing. • Keeps project tasks and notes organized to fulfill senior staff requests. • Meets client and team‑initiated deadlines. • Teaches and explains methodologies used by the Company to others. • Executes construction administration duties such as addressing contractor questions, leading pre‑construction meetings, reviewing substitution requests and shop drawings, performing site walkthroughs, and developing punch lists. • Ensures effective communication and fosters a positive work environment with clients and co‑workers. • Attends and/or leads project team meetings with design professionals and clients. • Participates and/or leads public involvement initiatives as needed. • Provides narrative for landscape architecture projects. • Engages in public speaking on professional landscape architecture. • Prepares scope and fee proposals to support department project opportunities. • Performs daily timekeeping in Unanet for appropriate project billing. • Anticipates next steps in the design process to keep documentation progressing. • Keeps track of requests asked by senior staff. • Mentors and guides staff on landscape architecture projects. • Deliver An Exceptional Client Experience • Build Lasting Relationships

What You Bring
Personal qualities valued include being detail‑oriented, a self‑starter, collaborative, a problem solver, and organized. • Storyboards construction documents and presentations. • Maintains an intermediate level of understanding of design tools and landscape architectural practices. • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited program. • Must be a Licensed Landscape Architect. • Eight (8) or more years experience preferred. • Experience with construction documents. • Demonstrated intermediate level knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD. • Proficient knowledge and clear understanding of technical drawings, plans, details, and specifications. • Ability to work on multiple projects with multiple deadlines. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. • Gain continuing education credits as required by the state and renew landscape architecture license. • Intermediate understanding of landscape architecture principles, practices, design, and construction processes. • Intermediate understanding of materials, methods, and tools for landscape and hardscape improvements, specifications, and construction administration. • Demonstrated aesthetic and appropriate design ability in landscape architecture projects, including site design, planning, and documentation. • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. • Ability to be both creative and analytical. • Extremely detail‑oriented and accurate. • Must be able to travel to various project sites. • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas. • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Kleingers Academy and Development Training
