About the Role
The engineer will plan, execute, and lead technical field assignments with minimal supervision, covering installation, modification, testing, commissioning, and repair of high‑voltage equipment. Responsibilities include supervising electricians and contractors, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment failures. All work must comply with Hitachi Energy’s safety policies. Field tasks require conducting electrical tests, SF₆ leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power‑factor, and contact‑resistance measurements, then documenting results and compiling data to resolve operating problems. The engineer will develop recommendations, prepare written reports, and maintain detailed service logs. Recommendations may involve new equipment or procedural changes to improve performance and customer satisfaction. • Plan, execute, and lead high‑voltage field assignments (69 kV‑550 kV) with minimal guidance. • Supervise electricians and contractors during installation, commissioning, and testing of substation equipment. • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high‑voltage equipment. • Conduct and document field tests such as electrical measurements, SF₆ leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, and contact resistance. • Compile data, generate reports, and recommend equipment or procedural improvements. • Read electrical drawings, operate test equipment (CB timers, power factor meters, TTR, Ductor, CT testers, Megger), and use Windows applications. • Participate in employee resource groups and programs supporting financial, physical, and mental wellbeing.

Coordination of team efforts and resource planning are essential. Adherence to safety procedures and proper use of test equipment are mandatory. Candidates must hold a technical certificate in an electrical or mechanical field and have at least five years of experience with high‑voltage substations (>69 kV) or comparable military experience. A bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred, along with proven leadership in coordinating crew for electrical installations. Ability to read schematics, operate test instruments (CB timers, power factor meters, TTR, Ductor, CT testers, Megger) and use Windows applications is required.
