About the Role
The Assistant Chief Engineer acts as the primary deputy to the Chief Engineer, overseeing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire life safety systems for a critical campus. This hands‑on leadership role blends technical expertise, administrative oversight, and staff supervision to ensure reliable and safe facility operations. • Supervise operations staff, assign daily tasks, and provide technical guidance for preventive and corrective maintenance. • Lead daily morning briefings to review work orders and monitor progress on MEP and HVAC repairs. • Organize and document annual safety training (LOTO, SPCC, HSSE) and conduct routine inspections of safety equipment, fire systems, generators, and building components. • Maintain accurate Maximo records for employee time, preventive maintenance work orders, utility consumption, emissions data, and technical documentation. • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to schedule inspections, maintenance, and repairs while monitoring compliance and performance. • Foster a safety‑focused culture, support employee development, and step in for the Chief Engineer to ensure leadership continuity.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least five years of experience managing complex facility operations with MEP and fire‑life‑safety systems, preferably hold technical certifications, be proficient with Maximo or similar CMMS, and be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. • 5+ years of experience managing complex facility operations, including MEP and fire‑life‑safety systems. • Supervisory experience preferred; technical certification or licensure (HVAC, electrical, boiler) strongly preferred. • Proficiency with Maximo or similar CMMS and standard office software. • Strong knowledge of regulatory codes and safety best practices. • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
