About the Role
In this role you will analyse, develop and demonstrate new electrical power‑system technologies for customers across all of our business sectors. You will contribute to the company’s electrical‑systems technology strategy, coordinate research activities with our Electrical University Technology Partners in the UK and globally, and work with internal supply‑chain units to help shape the future supply chain for electrical commodities. The position involves defining and implementing innovative power‑generation and distribution solutions, creating clear product specifications with input from mechanical, electrical and systems teams, and leading capability‑development projects from definition through stakeholder approval and funding. You will also lead problem‑solving for emerging technical and compliance issues, foster collaboration with internal and external specialists, provide technical direction and mentorship, and ensure standards, policies and best practices are defined and shared across the organisation. • Identify, develop, and implement innovative power generation and distribution technologies. • Define clear product specifications and performance requirements with cross‑functional input. • Lead capability project definition, proposal creation, stakeholder approval, and funding acquisition. • Lead development and application of new capabilities and resolve emerging technical, compliance, and business problems. • Foster collaboration with internal and external specialists and maintain strategic relationships. • Provide technical direction, mentorship, and leadership to teams and junior professionals. • Define and promote policies, standards, and best practices; share knowledge and represent the area as an authority.
What You Bring
We are looking for a professionally qualified engineer (minimum UK BEng or equivalent, higher degree preferred) with a background in aerospace electrical systems. Required experience includes protection and control of aerospace power systems, development of power‑system sub‑components that integrate electrical machines and AC‑AC/AC‑DC/DC‑DC conversion stages, and familiarity with analyses such as electrical‑load and fault‑tree analysis. A systems‑thinking mindset, knowledge of systems‑engineering standards (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, ARP4754) and experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering are advantageous, as is the ability to produce technical documentation and apply safety‑reliability methods. Candidates must be based in the UK, have the right to work in the UK, not be a US national and be able to pass the company’s BPSS security checks.
