About the Role
The Manufacturing Technician – I MCC Assembly is responsible for assembling, fitting, and mounting sub‑assemblies, components, and standard or near‑standard fixed assemblies in Motor Control Centers, enclosed control units, and related assemblies. This includes assembling and wiring units such as relay panels, panel boards, space heaters, and control panels, as well as bending and installing power cables, fabricating pre‑cable units, and verifying electrical/mechanical integrity through established power‑checking procedures. The technician works from oral or written instructions, prints, inspection reports, and wiring diagrams, utilizing manufacturing information sheets to requisition parts and obtain materials. Tasks involve reading shop orders and drawings, making adjustments for proper alignment, installing a variety of units and bus work, and operating floor‑mounted overhead and jib cranes to move components. Throughout the process, quality is monitored, work is labeled and documented, and all safety equipment and hygiene requirements are strictly observed. • Follow oral or written instructions, prints, inspection reports, and wiring diagrams. • Use manufacturing information sheets to determine parts, write requisitions, and obtain materials. • Read shop orders and drawings to identify assembly procedures, component types, mounting locations, and clearances. • Assemble and fit parts to create sub‑assemblies or complete assemblies. • Assemble and wire control devices, cutting wires to required lengths. • Adjust assemblies to ensure proper alignment and clearances. • Install units, panels, meters, switches, pull boxes, relays, fuses, transformers, etc., by mounting or bolting them in place; assemble bus work. • Fabricate pre‑bent cable units and harnesses using pre‑cable boards and hand‑crimp lugs as needed. • Modify standard assemblies or doors, altering hole cutouts with hand or power tools. • Perform wiring changes as required. • Operate floor‑mounted overhead and jib cranes to move units, harnesses, and panels. • Evaluate work quality, report problems to supervisor or QC, and maintain piece counts and records. • Mark wires, devices, and terminals; apply ID labels and maintain documentation. • Wear required safety equipment and follow hygiene standards throughout the assembly process.

What You Bring
A high school diploma or GED is required, with a minimum of three months manufacturing experience. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of South Bend, IN (unless active‑duty military) and be able to work flexible hours and overtime, lift or carry up to 35 pounds, and possess adequate vision and hand‑eye coordination. The position emphasizes teamwork, comprehension of wiring diagrams, use of hand tools in a lean environment, and self‑driven performance with minimal direction.
