About the Role
The Senior Chief Engineer leads the engineering team, providing daily operational management and administration with the goal of safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively operating all building machinery and systems while targeting 100 % uptime. Key duties include protecting client assets, implementing reliability‑based maintenance, executing equipment inspection and monitoring programs, and defining best‑practice maintenance to improve mechanical equipment uptime. The role also oversees preventive maintenance, repairs, and the proper operation of HVAC, refrigeration, water‑cooling, boiler, and other mechanical and electrical equipment, while ensuring adequate inventory of tools and supplies. Additional responsibilities involve managing contractors, identifying and correcting safety hazards, administering safety training, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines. The engineer maintains up‑to‑date infrastructure and compliance documentation, including building drawings and single‑line diagrams. Leadership tasks cover hiring, training, and developing engineers and maintenance staff, supervising the Critical Facility Work Authorization process, and providing hands‑on instruction and professional development to expand operational capabilities. • Lead and manage the engineering team, including hiring, training, and performance development. • Implement and oversee reliability‑based maintenance and preventive maintenance programs. • Monitor and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, water‑cooling, and other mechanical/electrical systems to ensure 100 % uptime. • Conduct equipment inspections, review logs, and report malfunctions promptly. • Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; prepare purchase orders and source stock materials. • Supervise contractors and vendors, evaluate performance, and ensure compliance with safety standards. • Identify safety hazards, implement remediation, and run safety training programs. • Maintain up‑to‑date infrastructure documentation, building drawings, and regulatory compliance records. • Administer the Critical Facility Work Authorization process for staff, tenants, and contractors. • Oversee budgeting, cost‑control, and capital project management including scope writing, bidding, and contractor oversight. • Manage service contracts and strategic sourcing for quality and competitive pricing. • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations governing building operations.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 10 + years of commercial building systems experience, 5 + years of maintenance management, a Universal Technician Certificate (CFC), an Operating Engineer’s license (SMA), strong computer and communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS.
