About the Role
• Manage all aspects of cost planning, including ownership and presentation of cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders. • Oversee the procurement process, ensuring effective prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection, and contract preparation. • Support delivery of cost management services to achieve key strategic outcomes and KPIs, influencing strategic development of plans. • Serve as a client‑facing senior cost consultant lead, providing strategic, tactical, and technical advice. • Manage and grow cost management teams or accounts. • Interface with clients, external and internal consultants at all project stages. • Conduct feasibility studies and produce procurement reports. • Produce ROMs for new and pipeline projects to base project budgets on. • Perform day‑to‑day cost management of medium‑large scale client projects, including procurement, pay requests, change management, and cost reporting. • Apply value management techniques at project outset using existing protocols and systems. • Manage estimating and cost planning activities, taking ownership and presenting the final cost plan. • Ensure post‑contract cost variances, change control, cost checking, and valuation processes are managed effectively. • Produce monthly post‑contract and cost reports and present them to the client. • Provide value engineering life‑cycle costing. • Manage final account negotiation and agreement. • Update benchmarking efforts as new projects are executed to provide real cost data to the client.

Mace North America is seeking a talented Cost Consultant for life science and industrial manufacturing projects. In this pivotal role you’ll have the opportunity to work directly with clients delivering iconic major capital projects. Note: This role has an on‑site minimum of 3 days per week. Work is primarily conducted on an active construction site with heavy equipment and machinery. Applicants must be able to lift and carry at least 25 lb, walk and stand extensively (often more than 5 miles a day), and climb and walk on scaffolding, with reasonable accommodation as required. • Degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying or related field (MS, MBA preferred). • Professional membership (e.g., MRICS/RICS or equivalent) and progression toward fellowship or demonstrable professional development. • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with ability to assure service delivery and provide actionable insights. • Knowledge of value engineering, life‑cycle costing, contract law and construction contractual frameworks. • Experience managing relationships with senior stakeholders. • Minimum 10+ years of relevant cost management experience in the construction industry. • Experience in the pharma/life science sector or similar manufacturing. • Experience leading cost management on large‑size construction projects of medium to high complexity. • Proficiency with Oracle Unifier or other project management systems.
