About the Role

The director will lead a local team of traffic design and operations professionals, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and overseeing traffic‑focused projects on multidisciplinary assignments. Responsibilities include leveraging client relationships to cross‑sell services, representing WSP at professional societies and conferences, and collaborating with district and business unit leads to balance workloads and enhance project delivery. Ensuring engineering services meet top industry standards, budget, quality, and client requirements is essential, as is managing staff performance, fostering professional development, and maintaining ethical decision‑making in line with WSP’s Code of Conduct. The role also requires staying current with the latest traffic engineering techniques and practices. • Lead and mentor a team of traffic design and operations professionals. • Provide technical expertise and oversee traffic‑focused projects across multidisciplinary programs. • Leverage client relationships to cross‑sell WSP services and drive business development. • Represent WSP at professional societies, conferences, committees, and presentations. • Ensure engineering services meet industry standards, budget, quality, and client requirements. • Manage staff performance, promote professional growth, and uphold ethical decision‑making. • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of traffic engineering practices and tools.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s preferred) and possess a professional Engineer license, with 12+ years of traffic engineering experience, including staff and project management. Advanced proficiency in traffic analysis, design, and software tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Synchro, Vissim, and Sidra is required, along with strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills. • Hold a Bachelor's in Engineering (Master's preferred) and a professional Engineer license. • 12+ years of traffic engineering experience with project and staff management responsibilities. • Advanced proficiency in traffic analysis, design, and software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Synchro, Vissim, Sidra). • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with a focus on safety and QA/QC. • Ability to work independently, adapt to change, and travel as project needs require.
