About the Role
The initial assignment is on a project in Wyoming. The engineer will interpret plans, implement pre‑construction quality plans, obtain permits, manage testing and inspection, maintain material tracking logs, handle contract documents and submittals, expedite them to meet schedules, and coordinate safety and compliance. • Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons. • Implement pre‑construction quality plans and oversee testing and inspections. • Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses. • Develop and maintain material tracking, test/inspection logs, concrete placement, and non‑conformance reports. • Manage contract documents and establish electronic handling procedures for RFIs and correspondence. • Coordinate submittal register, approvals, transmittals, packaging, review, and processing. • Expedite submittals to align with project schedule and communicate requirements to subcontractors and suppliers. • Incorporate closeout procedures and update as‑built construction documents. • Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed. • Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members, maintain schedule timelines, and ensure completion.

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II who can interact with staff at all levels, remain flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. The role involves reviewing, analyzing, managing, and resolving field coordination issues with project team members and participants. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering or construction management, and have at least three years of construction experience. They need strong attention to detail, knowledge of construction law, teamwork, communication, problem‑solving skills, a professional attitude, and a valid driver’s license. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management. • Minimum of three years related construction experience. • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks. • Basic understanding of construction law and industry practices. • Excellent teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem‑solving skills. • Professional attitude with strong customer service orientation. • Valid driver's license.

Base salary ranges from $93,400 to $126,100, with higher ranges for certain locations, and the role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
