About the Role
The Consultant – Project Planner will support the preparation and management of project programmes under the guidance of a Senior Project Planner or Project Manager. The role requires close collaboration with Technical Project Managers, various environmental and engineering disciplines, business support functions and clients to produce high‑quality programmes that enable accurate financial and resource forecasting. It is a strategic element of the company’s growth plan to build a team of planners that can support the full portfolio of the Environmental Project Management Team. The incumbent will contribute to the planning, scheduling and control strategy for assigned projects, interface directly with international (primarily UK‑based) colleagues and translate their requirements into effective programmes. They will produce internal and external progress reports that clearly communicate progress, changes, risks and issues, and ensure consistency of programmes across the portfolio and the Environmental PM Team. Additionally, they will provide planning advice and direction to project staff, sub‑consultants, contractors and clients. The role also involves leading a performance culture aligned with WSP values, fostering individual capability through active performance management, and enhancing both delivery outcomes and personal satisfaction for team members. • Assist in preparation and management of project programmes, collaborating with technical and environmental disciplines. • Produce high‑standard programmes to support financial and resource forecasting. • Contribute to planning, scheduling, and control strategies for assigned projects. • Translate international colleagues’ requirements into accurate project programmes. • Deliver internal and external progress reports communicating status, changes, risks, and issues. • Ensure consistency of programmes across the portfolio and Environmental PM Team. • Provide planning advice and direction to project staff, sub‑consultants, contractors, and clients. • Lead a performance culture aligned with WSP values, developing individual capability and satisfaction.

What You Bring
Candidates must demonstrate strong project scheduling capabilities and proficiency with tools such as Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis and Microsoft Project. Advanced knowledge of planning philosophies, principles, critical path analysis, earned value techniques and basic project management is required, together with at least seven years of relevant experience. Expertise in MS Excel/Word for developing tools, Power BI dashboards and reports, as well as solid commercial awareness of project management principles, is essential. • Demonstrated expertise in project scheduling using Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis, and Microsoft Project. • Advanced knowledge of planning philosophies, principles, and techniques. • Proficient in Critical Path Analysis, Earned Value Techniques, and basic project management. • Minimum seven years of experience in project planning and controlling. • Advanced MS Excel/Word skills; develop Power BI dashboards and stakeholder reports. • Strong understanding of project management principles and commercial awareness.
