About the Role
The Superintendent II will manage project schedules, site logistics, and safety, quality, and risk compliance while fostering collaboration with project partners and diverse team members. In addition to overseeing hiring and performance of craft teams, the role involves mentoring staff and driving continuous improvement of processes. • Plan and implement material, equipment, and inspection needs to support project schedule. • Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability. • Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies. • Develop and manage three- and six-week look‑ahead project schedules. • Create site logistics plan and manage utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment. • Collaborate with project partner superintendents. • Conduct on‑site orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and site meetings. • Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews; handle hiring, transfers, and terminations. • Coach and mentor assistant superintendents, craft team members, and other project personnel. • Ensure accurate task coding of work hours, track progress, and monitor craft productivity. • Provide training, career development discussions, and performance feedback for craft team members. • Build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. • Lead by example, offering effective coaching, feedback, and performance management. • Oversee safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team. • Identify and mitigate unfavorable working conditions and improve processes.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent II to coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a specific discipline. The role emphasizes strong customer relationships through excellent service and offers a base salary ranging from $130,100 to $195,200, with higher ranges for certain locations. The position includes eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan and requires the ability to travel up to 100%. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil/Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience. • Minimum 8 years of construction management or related experience. • Valid driver’s license. • Ability to manage development to closeout for multiple complex projects. • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills for multiple tasks. • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices. • Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency. • Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills. • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies. • Active listening and effective communication, open to diverse input. • Willingness to travel up to 100%. • Knowledge of EEO, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans.
