About the Role
• Makes decisions on routine matters; provides recommendations to supervisor and refers exceptions to supervisor. • Perform quantity surveys of materials shown on project plans. • Read and outline project specifications. • Maintain an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate. • Support vendor/subcontractor pricing, bid solicitation, and coordination. • Distribute plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors. • Work collaboratively and build relationships with project team members, subcontractors, vendors, and clients. • Perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. • Build relationships and collaborate within internal and external teams.

What You Bring
The Estimating Engineer 1 will learn JE Dunn processes and tools and develop professional skills while assisting with the preparation of cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals. This position will experience many facets of the construction and estimating process in order to develop an understanding of the building process and how JE Dunn executes projects. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn. • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office. • Read and understand drawings and specifications. • Proficient in construction estimating software. • Proficient in required construction technology. • Knowledge of means and methods of construction management. • Ability to learn quantity surveys. • Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work. • Understanding of Lean process and philosophy. • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (preferred). • Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • Entry‑level construction experience. • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds. • May require periods of overnight travel. • Willingness to work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs. • Frequent activity: sitting and viewing computer screen. • Occasional activity: standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.

Benefits
Base compensation for the Estimating Engineer 1 role in Minneapolis is between $72,248 and $90,311, depending on experience, and may be more than this range for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible to receive a target bonus based on both individual and company performance. The benefits package is aligned to this position as Professional Non-Union. • Gain field operational exposure through onsite project support when opportunities exist. • Work in a normal office environment, with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold conditions. • Eligible for a target bonus based on individual and company performance.
