About the Role

• Deliver a variety of civil engineering river and flood schemes • Prepare and support business cases for flood protection works • Develop outline and detailed designs for hydraulic systems, flood defences, drainage and ancillary structures • Design hydraulic structures such as culverts, weirs, walls, outfalls and scour protection for large infrastructure projects • Prepare work schedules and specifications for contractors • Carry out asset inspection of above‑ and below‑ground structures • Supervise construction works, supported by others where required • Collaborate with local authorities and national environmental organisations

What You Bring

WSP is seeking engineers with experience in water, drainage and environmental engineering to expand the growth of our expertise and technical capability on rivers and flood‑defence projects. We support clients across the UK, focusing on the Environment Agency, local authorities and other asset‑management organisations, delivering designs from concept through detailed stages across multiple sectors. We are looking for candidates who hold a civil or flood‑risk engineering degree, have post‑degree hydraulic design experience, understand flood and river diversion principles, are proficient in CAD/Civil 3D, and possess site experience, preferably in supervision. Strong communication skills, proven project delivery, and a commitment to becoming chartered are essential. • Degree qualified in civil or flood‑risk engineering • Post‑degree experience in hydraulic design for river or flood‑defence works • Knowledge of flood and river diversion design principles • Proficiency in CAD or Civil 3D • Site experience, preferably in supervision • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Proven contribution to project delivery meeting quality and commercial targets • Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status
