About the Role
The Water Lead role on the nuclear megaproject offers a rewarding career at the cutting edge of project development and the UK’s climate agenda. The role is responsible for capacity assurance, governance and stakeholder assistance for all water requirements. It involves managing relationships with water utilities and the Environment Agency, supporting utility diversions and connections, and coordinating technical and engineering processes. The Water Lead also oversees the design, construction and operation of potable, desalination, foul‑water treatment and surface‑water networks. • Lead capacity assurance, governance and stakeholder engagement for all water requirements. • Manage relationships with water utilities (Essex & Suffolk, Northumbrian, Anglian) and regulatory bodies. • Support utility diversions, connections and coordinate technical and engineering processes. • Oversee design, construction and operation of potable, desalination, foul‑water treatment and surface‑water networks. • Mitigate risks, manage change and ensure technical compliance with client specifications, timelines and budgets. • Establish governance frameworks and transition plans for water resources from planning to delivery and operations. • Provide assurance of principal contractor compliance and resolve water‑related issues promptly. • Champion SHE feedback and address safety, health and environmental concerns in water works. • Build strong working relationships with internal teams, utilities designers, contractors and statutory undertakers. • Lead multidisciplinary team to coordinate design, temporary works, construction and consents management. • Ensure technical compliance for DCO, testing, commissioning and handover to operations.

What You Bring

Within our consult and construct business we harness leading‑edge practical expertise and project delivery to unlock the potential of every project. • Minimum 10 years experience in utilities design/management on large construction projects. • Proven experience managing complex water installations and multidisciplinary teams. • In‑depth knowledge of materials, specifications and technical requirements for water infrastructure. • Strong leadership, team management and stakeholder communication skills. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management or a related field. • Professional project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) and membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent. • Familiarity with nuclear power plant projects or high‑compliance environments. • Advanced negotiation, conflict resolution and commercial/financial acumen. • Knowledge of environmental management, sustainability and carbon considerations.
