About the Role
The engineer will lead design of electrical systems, including renewable generation, energy storage, EV charging, building electrical, and battery storage projects. They will perform design work on photometrics, lighting, power distribution, EV charging and related areas, and develop design documents such as electrical layouts, schematics, calculations, and one-line diagrams. Daily collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across Kimley-Horn offices is required, as is preparing specifications, cost estimates, and proposals to support growth of electrical engineering services. The role also includes mentoring junior staff and expanding the Renewable Energy practice. • Lead design of electrical systems for renewable generation, energy storage, EV charging, building electrical, and battery storage projects • Perform design work on photometrics, lighting, power distribution, and EV charging systems • Create electrical layouts, equipment schematics, block diagrams, system calculations, and one-line diagrams • Prepare project specifications, construction cost estimates, and proposals • Collaborate daily with multidisciplinary teams across Kimley-Horn offices • Mentor and train junior staff to grow the Renewable Energy practice

What You Bring
Kimley-Horn’s Delray Beach, Florida office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with over six years of experience to join the Renewable Energy team. This on-site role is not remote. Candidates need at least five years of electrical engineering experience and a Professional Engineering license (or ability to obtain within 12 months). A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and knowledge of the NEC, NESC, IEEE and ANSI standards are required. The ability to travel for site visits, work collaboratively, and mentor junior staff is essential. Preferred experience includes utility-scale PV, MEP, HVAC, wind, energy storage, EV charging, microgrid, substation, or data-center design, as well as project management. Proficiency with AutoCAD, power system analysis tools (SKM, ETAP), transient study software (PSCAD, EMTP-RV), lighting design (AGI32), and programming in Python or MATLAB is also valued. • Minimum 5+ years experience in electrical engineering • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 12 months) • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering • Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE and ANSI standards • Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings • Preferred: utility-scale PV, MEP, HVAC, wind, energy storage, EV charging, microgrid, substation, data-center design • Preferred: experience in engineering project management • Preferred: proficiency in AutoCAD • Preferred: power system analysis using SKM, ETAP, or equivalent • Preferred: transient studies using PSCAD, EMTP-RV, or equivalent • Preferred: lighting design and photometrics using AGI32 or equivalent • Preferred: programming in Python or MATLAB
