About the Role
Key responsibilities include conducting field inspections and surveys, serving as a point of contact with agency officials, regulatory staff, landowners, contractors, and clients, and reviewing project documents to assess environmental conditions and potential impacts. Inspectors evaluate issues before construction, oversee mitigation measures, conduct environmental sampling (water, soil, stormwater), verify flagging of wetland and resource exclusion zones, and prepare daily written inspection reports with photos. They also participate in construction meetings, evaluate restoration activities, support compliance with spill prevention, wastewater, stormwater, storage tanks, and waste management, and perform work safely while wearing required PPE. • Conduct field inspections and monitor construction sites for environmental compliance. • Serve as liaison with agencies, regulators, landowners, contractors, and clients. • Review project documents and assess potential environmental impacts. • Perform environmental sampling (water, soil, stormwater) and verify exclusion zones. • Prepare daily inspection reports with written observations and photos. • Participate in construction meetings and evaluate restoration activities. • Ensure safety by wearing required PPE and following ERM/client protocols.

What You Bring
Inspectors must be proactive communicators, work with construction personnel to educate about project requirements, problem‑solve, and maintain frequent clear communication with the team. They must be able to inspect sites for compliance with client procedures, permit conditions, and landowner agreements, and may deliver environmental tailboard trainings. Familiarity with typical construction BMPs and good housekeeping procedures is required, and the role demands strong technical, organizational, and communication skills. This is a full‑time (40 hours/week), limited‑term position for 12 months with a possibility of renewal. Requirements include a minimum of two years of construction inspection or monitoring experience (stormwater inspection a plus) and a Bachelor’s degree in an environmental discipline preferred. Candidates need general knowledge of environmental disciplines such as SWPPP BMP installation, water resource protection, biology, materials storage, air quality, Hazmat storage, spill control, and waste management. Effective communication, willingness to learn, a valid driver’s license, a working vehicle, strong observational and organizational skills, and basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel are also required. Additional desired experience includes soil and water sampling, SWPPP certification, Hazmat evaluation, species‑specific biology, and cultural resources. • Minimum 2 years construction inspection/monitoring experience (stormwater a plus). • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental discipline preferred; knowledge of SWPPP BMPs and waste management. • Strong communication, organizational, and observational skills; valid driver’s license and vehicle. • Proficient with Microsoft Office for documentation.

Benefits
The position offers an annual base pay of $71,742‑$94,432 ($34.49‑$45.40 per hour) on a limited‑term, non‑exempt basis. Bonus eligibility varies, and benefits include paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and life & disability insurance for regular employees working 20 or more hours per week, with a limited benefits package for fixed‑term employees. Casual employees are not benefits‑eligible. • Base salary $71,742–$94,432 annually ($34.49–$45.40/hr); limited‑term 12‑month contract. • Eligible for paid time off, medical/dental/vision, 401(k), life & disability insurance (20+ h/week employees).
