About the Role

As a Senior Rail Operations and Maintenance Specialist in the Modelling and Operations team, you will guide rail transit systems from concept through delivery, ensuring they are safe, efficient, reliable, and responsive to the communities they serve. Your work will influence real‑world decisions that affect how cities move, combining operational planning, O&M agreement negotiation, and multidisciplinary design to deliver comprehensive, data‑driven solutions. • Lead operational planning and analysis for major rail transit projects across all phases. • Develop, negotiate, and manage Operating and Maintenance Agreements for transit initiatives. • Create and deliver ConOps, ConM, Operations Plans, Maintenance Plans, and Training Plans as part of multidisciplinary teams. • Oversee operational simulations, interpret modelling results, and present insights to agencies and clients. • Apply technical expertise to rail operations, track design, traction power, signalling, train control, and related infrastructure. • Review technical reports and designs to validate O&M requirements and ensure stakeholder alignment. • Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering data‑driven operational solutions. • Support growth of the Modelling and Operations practice, expanding O&M capabilities within WSP Canada. • Mentor and train junior staff, fostering collaboration across local and global teams.

What You Bring

The role requires an engineering background and over ten years of rail transit operations experience, with strong capabilities in operating and maintenance planning, system modelling, asset management, and signalling systems, as well as proven project delivery across multiple rail environments. • Hold an engineering degree and 10+ years of professional rail transit operations and maintenance experience. • Expertise in developing operating plans, maintenance plans, ConOps, system performance assessments, and failure mode analysis. • Proven track record in operational modelling for capacity analysis, timetable optimization, and routing strategies. • Strong knowledge of service planning, scheduling, crew rostering, and operational performance monitoring. • Experience with rail asset management, maintenance best practices, and signalling systems such as Fixed Block, ETCS, and CBTC. • Background in business planning, budgeting, operational costing, and negotiation of operating agreements.
