Design and analyze electrical substation projects, supporting senior engineers.
Job Highlights
About the Role
Typical design tasks include one‑line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA and communications layouts, physical substation layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing, AC and DC system calculations, and grounding studies. Work may require occasional short‑term travel of 1‑5 days, with longer assignments occurring infrequently. • Work under the direction of the Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s). • Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings. • Collaborate with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop drawings that meet national design standards, safety codes, and project specifications.

What You Bring
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, and candidates without an EIT designation will be hired as Substation Designers with the expectation to obtain their EIT for career progression. Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in engineering, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and a commitment to participate actively in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
