About the Role

The Heavy Civil Infrastructure business unit conceives, drives and implements transport solutions for cities, regions and asset owners worldwide, covering the full project cycle from business case and advisory work through to design, construction and asset maintenance. It also contributes to the Global Transport Sector Strategy. The Major Project Director role leads complex, multi‑disciplinary transport and civil infrastructure projects worth millions, overseeing design from concept through detailed design, managing large teams and ensuring delivery of reliable solutions across the UK and internationally. • Lead profitable projects that deliver success for our clients and communities • Develop a collaborative delivery approach across project teams, supply chain, partners, and client teams • Deliver to budget, programme, and quality • Enhance client satisfaction • Undertake Project Reviews to foster continuous improvement and sharing lessons across projects • Champion industry‑leading techniques to improve safety and customer service for clients and their customers • Deliver projects to time, cost and quality • Foster innovation in design, digital and technical excellence • Ensure prompt billing and payment • Provide monthly reporting on scheme progress • Deliver client requirements and achieve customer satisfaction • Management or direction of large project teams (over 100 people) • Join Advanced Employee Networks supporting LGBTQ+, gender, race, ethnicity, disability and parent/carer communities • Participate in social outcomes initiatives to make a difference in local communities

What You Bring

The successful candidate will have extensive experience delivering major design projects (fees > £5 m) under Design & Build contracts, strong project, financial and programme management skills, and a proven record of business development and winning proposals. A BEng/BSc in civil engineering, Chartered Engineer status and membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers are required. Mott MacDonald does not currently sponsor Skilled Worker visas in the UK, but welcomes applications from candidates eligible for alternative immigration routes that do not require sponsorship. • Extensive experience delivering major design projects (fees > £5 m) in project director or manager roles, especially under Design & Build contracts • Project, financial, programme and resource management skills • Ability to meet demanding schedules and targets • Proven business development and marketing skills with a record of winning proposals • Excellent communication skills for conveying targets and priorities to staff, clients and partners • BEng/BSc in civil engineering or related subject • Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) • Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (or equivalent)
