About the Role

You will join the Water directorate’s operational Process Science Team in Sussex, responsible for ensuring the drinking water supplied to the public meets exceptionally high quality standards. The team works closely with operations to carry out performance checks on water‑treatment assets and to analyse laboratory test results from throughout the treatment process to the customers’ taps. This new role assists the team with data analysis, performance‑check support, administration of investigatory sampling and risk‑management systems. It also helps operations compile evidence for internal and Inspectorate audits. You will support the business in meeting water‑quality targets and legislative standards, assisting with the optimisation of existing and new assets to maintain high‑quality supply and monitor treatment‑process efficiency. • Perform data analysis and assist with performance checks on water treatment assets. • Administer investigatory sampling and risk‑management systems. • Analyze laboratory test results from treatment processes to customer taps. • Provide advice on optimizing drinking water treatment. • Manage evidence for internal and Inspectorate audits. • Support optimisation of existing and new assets to maintain water quality and efficiency. • Participate in 24/7 incident‑support rotas as required.

What You Bring

A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, strong communication and IT skills are essential. The role requires regular visits to operational sites, so a full driving licence and access to your own car are mandatory. While experience in the water industry or an environmental, engineering or scientific qualification is desirable, a strong desire to learn about water operations is equally important, and full training will be provided. • Hold a full driving licence and have access to a personal car for site visits. • Demonstrate proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong communication and IT skills. • Preferable experience in the water industry or environmental/engineering/scientific background (not essential).
