About the Role

• Lead wildlife surveys, including vegetation and habitat mapping across ecosystems in Washington and Oregon. • Conduct special-status species surveys following agency-approved protocols. • Manage field teams and ensure data completeness and compliance with survey approaches. • Travel throughout the Pacific Northwest to perform field work. • Develop final reports describing techniques and results that meet agency requirements. • Assist with local, state, and federal permitting efforts. • Prepare special-status species permitting documents, such as ESA Section 7 biological assessments. • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations. • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and specialists across disciplines. • Gather, analyze, and interpret ecological data to support project reports and recommendations. • Maintain accurate records of field observations and data collection processes. • Utilize GIS software to map and analyze spatial data, develop survey plans, and contribute to habitat assessments. • Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and within budget. • Stay informed on current environmental regulations, conservation practices, and scientific advancements. • Review technical reports prepared by others. • Prepare field survey plans and develop novel approaches. • Collaborate with co‑workers, clients, and agency representatives to incorporate the latest field developments. • Interface with clients and agencies to ensure tasks meet requests and applicable standards. • Assist in botanical surveys, wetland delineations, and permitting.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a BA/BS in Biology, Natural Resources, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, possess at least two years of relevant experience, have a valid U.S. driver’s license, and be U.S. citizens willing to travel for field work. Preferred applicants bring three or more years of wildlife surveying and report writing experience in Oregon and Washington, expertise in identifying Pacific Northwest bird species, knowledge of special‑status wildlife protections, and strong GIS, communication, and problem‑solving skills. • Work independently and as part of a team; innovate and solve problems. • BA/BS in Biology, Natural Resources, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field. • Minimum two years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience in wildlife or natural resource projects. • Willingness to work out of town for field work as needed. • Valid U.S. driver’s license. • U.S. citizenship required. • Three or more years conducting wildlife surveys in Oregon and Washington. • Three or more years writing summary reports for field investigations in Oregon and Washington. • Ability to identify common Pacific Northwest avian species by sight and sound. • Working knowledge of special-status wildlife in Oregon and Washington and related protections. • Capacity to perform fieldwork on difficult terrain and in adverse weather conditions. • Proven track record following wildlife survey protocols, managing field data, and leading crews. • Proven GIS experience analyzing spatial data and creating field maps. • Experience working with construction crews and field engineers. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Exceptional time management and problem‑solving abilities.
