About the Role
Reporting to the Supervisor of Billing Operations, the Billing Analyst ensures customer bills are accurate and timely by reviewing, investigating, and resolving exceptions that prevent billing. The role updates customer, account and site data in the billing system and works closely with the Utility Billing Specialist to fulfill requests from internal teams and external stakeholders. • Resolve usage and billing exceptions to ensure accurate, timely billing. • Update and correct customer, site, and account information in the billing system with high accuracy. • Add and validate rate schedules for new and upgraded services. • Create Site IDs for new services. • End billing on salvaged sites, including manual corrections and issuing field orders. • Perform manual billing for complex rates and conduct quality‑assurance tasks. • Investigate historical consumption, resolve errors, and execute manual billing corrections. • Correct mixed‑meter situations by validating geographic data and adjusting affected accounts. • Identify, investigate, and escalate billing system or interface issues. • Support analysis and quantification of billing issue scope and scale. • Respond to internal requests for guidance on end‑to‑end billing processes, tariffs, or market transactions. • Recommend improvements to customer care, billing processes, and system configurations. • Execute user acceptance testing, compare actual results to expected outcomes, and report discrepancies.

What You Bring
Applicants will be contacted only if considered for an interview; successful candidates may undergo criminal, education and employment background checks and other skill assessments as required. • Hold a university undergraduate degree or diploma in Business Administration, IT, Computing Science, Accounting or related field (relevant experience may substitute). • Minimum two years of utility customer service and billing experience, preferably in a vertically integrated utility. • Familiarity with Oracle CCS, Oracle C2M, or Oracle CC&B. • Knowledge of Alberta Utilities Commission rules and codes governing distribution utilities. • Understanding of electric utility industry, market rules, tariff billing, and Alberta’s deregulated energy market. • Experience working within complex IT environments and utility IT systems. • Proven ability to analyze and interpret data. • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
