About the Role
Core responsibilities include planning material, equipment and inspections to support the project schedule, reviewing construction documents for completeness and constructability, and coordinating plans with design engineers. The superintendent will develop and manage the project schedule and site logistics, collaborate with partner superintendents, and oversee tools and equipment usage. Leadership duties cover coaching, supervising, hiring, training, and performance management of team members, as well as conducting orientations, planning sessions, and site meetings. • Plan and coordinate materials, equipment, and inspections to align with project schedules. • Review construction documents for completeness, constructability, and contract compliance. • Develop and manage project schedules, site logistics plans, and tool/equipment utilization. • Collaborate with partner superintendents and design engineers on plan coordination. • Coach, supervise, hire, train, and evaluate team members; conduct orientations and site meetings. • Ensure accurate task coding, track work progress, and support career development discussions. • Lead safety, quality, risk, and compliance initiatives; identify and mitigate hazards. • Foster effective relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. • Provide performance feedback, coaching, and lead by example. • Maintain knowledge of construction law, business practices, and company policies.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent to coordinate, plan and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a specific discipline. The role involves developing customer relationships and delivering excellent service. The position is available at two levels (Superintendent I and II) with compensation based on experience, location, and internal equity. The role requires high‑level management of safety, quality, risk and compliance, recognizing and mitigating unfavorable conditions, and pursuing process improvements. Building effective relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels, providing feedback, and leading by example are also essential. Required qualifications include an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction‑related fields or 10 years of trade experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects from development through closeout. Candidates must be detail‑oriented, possess basic knowledge of construction law and business practices, have intermediate Microsoft Office skills, and demonstrate strong communication, customer service, and travel readiness (up to 100%). Minimum experience for Superintendent I is five years; for Superintendent II, eight years. • Meet travel requirements of up to 100% and exhibit strong communication and customer service skills. • Possess at least 5 years (Superintendent I) or 8 years (Superintendent II) of construction management experience. • Hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field or 10 years of trade experience and a valid driver’s license. • Utilize intermediate Microsoft Office skills for project documentation.

Benefits
Compensation ranges from $111,400–$167,100 for level I and $130,100–$195,200 for level II, with higher ranges for certain office locations.
