About the Role

The Senior Project Manager at Cajun is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing construction projects to meet client and company objectives within defined schedules and budgets. This role requires effective communication with field staff, technical teams, subcontractors, and both Cajun and client management, while championing safety, quality, and productivity standards with minimal supervision. Key duties include conducting constructability reviews, leading estimate and bid preparation, developing procurement strategies, and evaluating contracts for profitability and risk. The manager staffs projects, manages day‑to‑day construction activities, leads subcontractor and vendor selections, monitors schedules and metrics, reviews change orders, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and invoicing requirements. • Conduct detailed constructability reviews and provide improvement recommendations. • Lead preparation of estimates, bid development, and overall proposal processes. • Develop procurement plans and staging methods to ensure material availability. • Evaluate contracts for profitability opportunities and associated risks. • Staff projects appropriately and manage daily construction activities. • Champion safety and quality programs through active leadership. • Select subcontractors and vendors, enforcing safety and quality expectations. • Represent Cajun in the local community and build relationships with businesses and government agencies. • Create and maintain detailed project metrics, monitoring variances and forecasting issues. • Review change orders, analyzing budget and schedule impacts for owners. • Monitor construction schedules, analyze progress, and communicate impacts to stakeholders. • Facilitate internal and external project meetings to align goals and expectations. • Coordinate with client contract departments to ensure timely invoice payments. • Define project team roles, reporting structures, and interaction frequencies. • Communicate scope changes, variances, and contingencies to leadership. • Mediate conflicts and resolve disputes between subcontractors and Cajun. • Oversee contractor performance, approve invoices, and address payment disputes. • Advise business unit leaders and executive sponsors on project matters.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold at least an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or possess equivalent experience, and have a minimum of ten years in the industry with eight years in petro‑chemical construction management. Required skills include strong collaboration, leadership, technical and strategic thinking, excellent communication, detail orientation, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Primavera, and Access. The position involves regular computer use (4‑5 hours daily), extensive phone, email, and face‑to‑face communication (5‑6 hours daily), weekly site coordination visits, and occasional extended workdays of 10‑12 hours as needed. • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience). • At least 10 years of industry experience, including 8 years in petro‑chemical construction management. • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Primavera, and Access.
