About the Role

The Associate Director role in the Liverpool Streets team leads sustainable transport initiatives across the North of the UK. This senior leadership position blends technical expertise, commercial insight, and people management to grow a forward‑thinking business. In this role you will lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of traffic, highways and sustainable transport projects, acting as Project Director or Project Manager. You will ensure outstanding technical quality, commercial performance and client satisfaction while shaping future work through strong client relationships and winning new business. You will inspire, manage and develop a high‑performing project delivery team, acting as a proactive line manager to support career progression and technical development. Building strong cross‑disciplinary relationships and championing best practice and continuous improvement are key aspects of the role. • Lead delivery of traffic, highways and sustainable transport projects as Project Director/Manager. • Ensure technical quality, commercial performance and client satisfaction. • Build strong client relationships, identify new opportunities and lead winning bids. • Inspire, manage and develop a high‑performing project delivery team. • Act as proactive line manager supporting career progression and technical growth. • Champion best practice, innovation and continuous improvement across disciplines.

What You Bring

Technical expertise is required in traffic and highways engineering, sustainable transport (walking, cycling, active travel), bus priority and BRT schemes, municipal engineering, and road safety audits. Familiarity with DMRB, MfS, LTN guidance, MCHW and local authority standards is expected. Candidates should have a proven track record delivering complex transport and streets projects, strong commercial acumen and experience winning work through bids and proposals. Excellent client‑facing and collaborative skills, along with self‑motivation and leadership ambition, are essential. A relevant degree, Chartered status (or working towards it) and membership of a professional institution are required.
