About the Role

The Assistant Cost Lead – Project and Development Services works side‑by‑side with the cost manager to steer projects from the pre‑design phase through completion. This role assembles and leads interdisciplinary teams, defines organisational structures, project objectives and working procedures, and monitors performance to achieve optimal results. Key duties include establishing clear project cost plans, budgeting, and ensuring target profits, while also handling contract administration, quality‑control systems, procurement, and vendor negotiations. The role supports the construction manager with installations, site inspections, and contractor management, and prepares BOQs, quantity surveys, cost analyses, and benchmarking of specifications. The candidate must provide cost information for decision making, evaluate contractor invoices, utilise SAP or similar systems for cost reporting, forecast cash flows, maintain project schedules, and develop reporting tools. They will also build intricate spreadsheets, extract and reconcile data from multiple sources, and support the change‑management process. Pre‑contract responsibilities involve developing cost plans, delivering updated estimates at design milestones, providing commercial input for design optioneering and value‑engineering, and leading price negotiations. Post‑contract tasks cover quantity surveying, cost controls, change management, monthly cost reporting, final account negotiations, and compiling as‑built cost records for benchmarking. • Lead project teams from pre‑design through completion, establishing structure, objectives and procedures. • Develop and maintain project cost plans, budgets and profit targets. • Prepare BOQs, quantity take‑offs, cost analyses and benchmark specifications. • Conduct procurement, vendor negotiations and value‑engineering to optimise commercial terms. • Support construction manager with installations, site inspections and contractor management. • Generate monthly cost reports, cash‑flow forecasts and earned‑value analysis using SAP or similar systems. • Evaluate contractor invoices and bids, providing recommendations for selections. • Create and maintain reporting tools, spreadsheets and data‑reconciliation processes. • Manage change orders, variation orders and contract administration throughout the project lifecycle. • Ensure final accounts are negotiated and compiled for benchmarking purposes.
